This was done Pre RF 2015 Update, with the Dyverso Solver on Release. Trying to mimic kinda wet sand, this one maybe looks a little to fluid like. A custom setup, trying to get internal friction and granular behaviour, No Viscosity was used. Meshed with Frost using Instancing of sand grains per particle. Render Via V-Ray. The Particle count is about 3 Million, with the Poly count of the instances been around 45 Million Polys. Just a half day RnD.
